“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” Matthew 13:44 NIV
We are born into spiritual darkness, carrying the confusion of a soul in the born in the flesh. We are reaching for life, but often missing the only source from which true life is found. Yet from the beginning, God’s heart was set on having a vast Spiritual family, shaped by His own Kingdom, to progressively mature and reflect His image.
“Now therefore, if you will in fact obey My voice and keep My covenant (agreement),THEN you shall be My own special possession and treasure from among all peoples [of the world], for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation [set apart for My purpose]…” Exodus 19:5-6 AMP
We were always meant to be His treasure. That is why He is making us “kings and priests”; to help in administering the government of the Kingdom of God on earth (Revelation 5:10).
No Longer our Own
Jesus taught His disciples that true leadership in His Kingdom is not about power or position, but about humble service.
Unlike earthly governments that often serve their own interests, His rule is rooted in love, justice, and the eternal good of those He governs (Matthew 20:25–28). As we learn to be faithful stewards over the small “kingdoms” entrusted to us now, we are being prepared for greater responsibilities in His Heavenly Kingdom (Matthew 25:21).
But this Kingdom, this life hidden in Christ, demands something most costly. The man in the parable of the pearl found a treasure so precious that in his joy, he sold all he had.
Have we come to the place of knowing that our life is no longer our own; that we belong to God? That He is the great prize, that it is a true joy to eternally belong wholly to Him and to live for Him? That it is an honor and privilege to walk in this life with Him, the Master of all creation, who is sovereign above all, and whose actions are always loving and just.
Are we not just willing, but joyful – to give up the right that we have to our own life?
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have received as a gift from God, and that you are not your own property? You were bought with a price; you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own. So then, honor and glorify God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 AMP
We consist of body, soul, and spirit. In the Spirit, our opinions and desires have already died with Him on the cross. We will begin to recognize this to the extent that we yield to His leadership and sovereignty.
Our Spirit is blessed and honored to do the will of the Father, who has sent us to earth to be transformed into His likeness, and to become the living epistles of Love and restoration to all of creation. To steward this high calling, we must learn, as Jesus did, to be all things to all people. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23) These qualities do not arise instinctively; they must be cultivated through intentional training and practice.
“I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do—even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father! For I will do whatever you ask me to do when you ask me in my name. (Which means according to God’s will.) And that is how the Son will show what the Father is really like and bring glory to him. Ask me anything in my name, and I will do it for you!” John 14:12-14 TPT
Identity as Sons of God in Humble, Bold, Obedient Faith
Our spiritual identity as sons of God is what gives us the confidence to embrace a fearless and bold lifestyle, in the ways of the Kingdom of Heaven. It’s a process that requires a true recognition of not only our identity, but the authority entrusted to us, as we are progressively restored to our original, God-ordained positioning.
“For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, ‘You are God’s beloved child!’ And since we are his true children, we qualify to share all his treasures, for indeed, we are heirs of God himself. And since we are joined to Christ, we also inherit all that he is and all that he has. We will experience being co-glorified with him provided that we accept his sufferings as our own.” Romans 8:16-17 TPT
The boldness we have must be rooted in humility and gratitude, not in any kind of self- importance or entitlement. It is only by His mercy, and not in anything we can do ourselves. Our confidence should not be self-exalting, but God-exalting.
The Lord says, “The wise must not boast in their wisdom, the mighty must not boast in their power, and the wealthy must not boast in their riches. If you’re going to boast, then boast about this: that you understand my ways and know my heart, and you know that I am Yahweh. Let the wise boast in knowing how I demonstrate infinite love, true justice, and righteousness, for these are the things that delight my heart,’ declares Yahweh.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 TPT
To truly understand His heart, we must learn obedience, just as our brother Jesus did, who said, “I speak to you eternal truth. The Son is unable to do anything from himself or through his own initiative. I only do the works that I see the Father doing, for the Son does the same works as his Father.’” John 5:19 TPT
We must learn to practice acknowledging His presence in every moment; to be instructed in obedience and instantaneous flexibility, no matter what the cost. This is a spiritual muscle that strengthens as we use it. We must be willing to give up our own rights in order to pursue what God puts on our hearts, and what He strategically places in our daily path. This way of prioritizing our life will produce a maximum amount of eternal fruit. (This reminds me of the writing, “The tyranny of the urgent.”)
Soul and Spirit
Know that one’s discernment is limited where our soul is not laid down. The soul was never meant to be a shepherd, but the servant. We give the power of life or death to our soul. We don’t need sharper instincts; we need a surrendered spirit. God speaks from spirit to spirit, He speaks to the core of who we are made to be. That is our primordial existence.
But, we must deny our own self, our own fleshly controlled soul, take up our cross, and follow Him. That is the ascended posture of Life, that we can find ourselves to be fully found in Christ.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.”
The Word, Logos, is a doorway into the dwelling of God, flowing from His headship. But we have the power of choice. When the Word is allowed entrance, it speaks, creates, orders, separates light from darkness. It shapes us and fills us.
When our spirit, made alive by the breath of God, steps back into its rightful commanding position over our soul and body, we are clothed with the authority of our true identity in Christ. From this place of restored order, no longer ruled by our shifting emotions and desires, we can willingly and freely choose to lay down our lives for our King and His Kingdom. We can be pure vessels of His will, resonating with the authority of His throne to the earth.
The very foundations of His throne are justice and righteousness. God’s justice advances through mutual covenant, “I will be your God, and you will be my people.” This agreement and promise is initiated by God, and is accompanied by specific commitments and signs of a fruitful character. To be made righteous is the heart of our priestly ministry. This is the mysterious order of Melchizedek, the living and active Word, the Logos.
Jesus said, “I have not come to bring peace to the earth, but a sword.” Peace only comes through the sword, dividing what is of the human soul from the spirit.
True peace then, comes at a cost. His righteous judgments are not reactions, but decrees of Life from His throne. Where the Lord judges, He is revealing Himself to us. He is outside the door out of hearts, longing for a restored communion. Judgement is wrapped in mercy for those who turn to Him, call upon His name, give Him trust and lordship over their life, and take refuge in Him. His yoke carries the heavy load. His zeal accomplishes a complete restoration.
At Home in the Spirit Realm (Born from Above)
In choosing this way of life, we will soon find out that we don’t need all the things we once thought we needed. We don’t need the things our earthly paradigms demand of us. We have been born from above. Jesus showed this with His very own disciples.
“Then the disciples began to insist that Jesus eat some of the food they brought back with them, saying, ‘Teacher, you must eat something.’ But Jesus told them, ‘I have eaten a meal you don’t know about.’ Puzzled by this, the disciples began to discuss it among themselves, ‘Did someone already bring him food?’ To clarify, Jesus spoke up and said, ‘My food is to do the will of him who sent me and bring it to completion.’” John 4:31-34 TPT
This is from the TPT commentary, which I find brings an even fuller measure:
“There is a fascinating word play here in the Aramaic. The word Jesus used isn’t the common word for “food,” but a specific word that means “nutrients.” It also has a homonym more commonly translated “kingdom.” Jesus has a kingdom feast that no one else knows about. He feasts upon the devotion of his bride.”
Jesus’ words are more than just a declaration about physical hunger; they point to a deep spiritual reality. His food was to do the will of His Father, to engage in the work of bringing God’s kingdom to earth. This is the true satisfaction that we are called to experience. When we are in alignment with God’s will, we partake of the Bread of Life, that nourishes the soul in a way that nothing else can.
“But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13 KJVAAE
“So we are convinced that every detail of our corporate lives are continually woven together for good, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose. For he knew all about us before we were born and he destined us from the beginning to share the likeness of his Son. This means the Son is the oldest among a vast family of brothers and sisters who will become just like him.” Romans 8:28-29 TPT
The Aramaic can be translated “sealed us” (with God’s mark upon us).
“Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.” Hebrews 2:11 NIV
The Lord is continuously and progressively expanding our capacity to do His work, by the power of His Spirit. He will always be revealing Himself above and beyond the things we think we can do. So we must become more at home in the realms of the Spirit than we are in the earthly realm.
Into the Limitless Image of God
The training of a son of God is into the unlimited and eternal life. So as we mature, we incrementally are releasing our human limitations, and being transformed and conformed into the limitless image of God.
When we believe this in faith, unhindered by doubt, fear, or resistance – our faith is counted to us as righteousness, and resonates deeply with His heart, drawing from Him a divine connection and response. Our faith is what opens up the limitlessness of God, which empowers us to choose Life joined with Him, to accomplish His purposes on earth.
The vision we have for the future is too small. I believe that in the days ahead, we will be empowered to go beyond what our wildest imaginations can fathom. That is why God says, “Things never discovered or heard of before, things beyond our ability to imagine—these are the many things God has in store for all His lovers.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 TPT
To stand in the true authority of sonship is to be joined so deeply to the Spirit of God that creation itself bears witness to the relationships within the Kingdom family.
All of creation knows the frequency, because it is the same Spirit, the same life, the same authority that first called it into being.
“You are a fountain of gardens. A well of living water springs up from within you, like a mountain brook flowing into my heart! Awake, O north wind! Awake, O south wind! Breathe on my garden with your Spirit-Wind. Stir up the sweet spice of your life within me. Spare nothing as you make me your fruitful garden. Hold nothing back until I release your fragrance. Come walk with me as you walked with Adam in your paradise garden. Come taste the fruits of your life in me.” Song of Songs 4:15-16 TPT
Again, from the commentary: “The Hebrew word for “north” comes from a root word for “hidden,” “to treasure up,” or “hidden (ones).” It takes both the cold north wind (God’s hidden ways) and the south wind (God’s pleasant, refreshing dealings with us) to bring forth the fragrance of his life in us and to saturate us with divine aromas.”
Like Jesus, we are “…a true sprouting vine, and the farmer who tends the vine is our Father. He cares for the branches connected to us, by lifting and propping up the fruitless branches and pruning every fruitful branch to yield a greater harvest.” John 15:1-2 TPT
“I have gathered from your heart, my equal, my bride, I have gathered from my garden all my sacred spices—even my myrrh. I have tasted and enjoyed my wine within you. I have tasted with pleasure my pure milk, my honeycomb, which you yield to me. I delight in gathering my sacred spice, all the fruits of my life I have gathered from within you, my paradise garden. Come, all my friends— feast upon my bride, all you revelers of my palace. Feast on her, my lovers! Drink and drink, and drink again, until you can take no more. Drink the wine of her love. Take all you desire, you priests. My life within her will become your feast.” Song of Songs 5:1 TPT
As we grow in awareness, and our hearts continue to align with His will and nature, we learn that our authority (the ability to make righteous and just decisions), with Him, is without limit and joined with all other aligned dimensions. In this realm, we find that all ways of the Kingdom are possible. All of creation moves in response to His life, the living Word, expressed through us.
We are forerunners for these things to happen. As we function in the spirit realm, we are not controlled by our human nature, but rather released into our spirit nature.
We are justified (approved) by the Spirit of the living God, as He molds our very lives to bear witness and testimony of God’s mighty works of righteousness. This is the heart of God’s covenant, to establish a lasting, relational bond with His people, grounded in love and faithfulness. This way of life brings the invisible Kingdom into visible reality through our daily lives.
A Body of Kings and Priests
As humble servants, we should take pride in this high calling. God is raising us up as sons, who are also priests and kings. Together, we are being formed into a Bride, a collective people who are fully united in love, maturity, holiness, and shared authority.
Our superior preference, that is, what we give the highest priority to in life, must be committed to the way of the Kingdom of God. We must set our eyes like flint. Nothing should be outside of this covenant.
We are meant to rule, by righteousness and justice, as kings and priests, under the leadership of the King of all kings. This ordered path of life is what brings true peace on Earth as His glory is made manifest.
Only for those who Seek Him, for those who love Wisdom
All the things that Jesus did, we will also do in greater measure. Things are going to happen that are going to carry us into greater, higher, deeper, and wider depths of who He is, as we become His united expressed representation in the Earth.
God created us to be multidimensional; designed to move, know, and live in the fullness of His heart across every dimension and realm. Yet He does not pour out His wisdom into a careless soul. Wisdom is born of intimacy, cultivated in the hidden, disciplined life.
“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” Proverbs 25:2 NIV
“Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power and strength are mine. “By me kings reign And rulers decide and decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, All who judge and govern rightly. I love those who love me; And those who seek me early and diligently will find me. Riches and honor are with me, Enduring wealth and righteousness (right standing with God). My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, And my yield is better than choicest silver. I, [Wisdom, continuously] walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice, That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth and true riches, And that I may fill their treasuries.” Proverbs 8:14-21 AMP
We are purposed to have knowledge of the heart of God in every dimension and realm. But, He doesn’t impart His wisdom without intimacy, in our private and inner life. Faith without cultivating a disciplined life, is dead. We must choose this constant way of life, walked out with Him and His people, led by the Spirit, and ever growing into the fullness of Christ.
One Fruitful Bride
As we are joined in spirit to the living God, the Logos made manifest in immortal flesh, we are not simply individuals that are following Him. We are becoming one corporate body, mighty oaks of righteousness, planted by His hand, bearing His likeness, formed into the One New Man in whom heaven and earth are reconciled.
The Word is sure, and makes visible the Spirit and person of Truth. And when it falls on a fertile soil of the heart, it will bear a multitude and an abundance of eternal fruit.
“The beautiful bride overflowing with the bridegroom’s life (doing the will of the God), is to be given to others, even as Jesus was given to us by the Father. She has become a feast for the nations, and wine to cheer the hearts of others.”
Let it be done unto us, according to His Word.
“They will come, singing for joy on the heights of Zion, and the goodness of Yahweh will make them radiant. Yahweh will bless them with grain, new wine, olive oil, flocks, and herds. They will be prosperous and grow like a well-watered garden, with no reason to be discouraged.” Jeremiah 31:12 TPT
