I had a very interesting dream yesterday which I think has many spiritual implications. I feel led to write it down.
In this dream, I am sent to different regions across the world on a mission. I am to warn diverse peoples who seem to have lived in some typical terrain for many generations, that an earthquake is coming, and it will do much damage to the animals they are given to care for. In each particular region, there would be some distinct animals, many of which are on the verge of extinction – I am not so sure of the details.
However, the place I started with is a desert region. The typical animal there is a mountain lion. (In the beginning, I mistook it for a tiger. After searching images online, I realized that the animal does not have stripes, but was rather of one golden color.) There are also deer and wolves, I think. Interestingly, all the animals in the dream, regardless of their region, have all been somehow domesticated. They enjoy peace with one another, and would listen submissively to the people assigned to their care.
My mission proves to be unsuccessful. All the head men listened to me, but they wouldn’t take heed of the warning. They all seem to enjoy a sense of security that nothing could ever do harm to the animals, so they continue in their way of life undisturbed. However, on the way back to where I set out from, news reaches me that the earthquake indeed took place. It had indeed done harm to the animals, and even resulted in their death.
After I arrived “home” in the desert region, the leader came to give me an account of what has just happened. We are sitting down together in my office, or his, I am not so sure with this detail… but he tells that all the mountain lions and other animals were hurt severely in this region as well. He is quite remorseful over what happened. He remains silent after that, neither wanting to confess his fault of overlooking my warning, nor to talk with me about how to salvage the damage. It is interesting to me that during this time, he never looks back at me in the eye, only plummeting his eyes to the ground. He obviously feels very uncomfortable to face the consequences of his actions (or inaction), and the person to whom he must give an account.
I feel the pain of his loss and humiliation. So I begin to relay to him that he need not be so downcast because of what has just happened. Now it is time for us to discuss what needs to be done to care for the wounded animals. I say to him, “I know the grace of God is on the way. We need to receive it so that we can restore things.”
At this very moment, a vision is shown to me. Looking down from a “bird’s eye view,” I can see from the four directions of the earth, that the grace of God begins to gather towards where we are.
Intriguingly, the four flows of this grace move beneath the ground. As they draw close to the center where we are, they begin to rise up like newly formed mountains, merging into a cross where they intercept. This cross of mountains continues to rise. I can see that the grace of God will rest on this mountain. It will bless the animals and the people who dwell upon it in an unprecedented way. More than being healed and restored, they will prosper in peace and be given much provision.
As I share this with the older man, he still refuses to raise up his head because he does not believe my encouragement. Without uttering anything, he rises up and walks toward the door with his head still downcast. As I watch him leave, suddenly I realize that somehow his blindness and unbelief will rob him of all that he was given. God will take away from him this land and give it to a group of us. We have set our heart to rescue it and to take good care of the animals. Unfortunately the man has no idea what he really walked away from.
Two additional details I feel led to record to compliment the understanding of this dream:
- Recently, I repeatedly saw 9:11 on the clocks. I asked the Lord what that means. Due to the nature of what this number implies, I think it is obviously a warning. This morning, the Lord spoke to me and said that, “I need to reverse my thinking by reading 11:9 in Isaiah.” He said it is a blessing as much as it is a warning. I was also repeatedly reminded about Brad’s dream, and the Lord brought a new layer of understanding of it to me. He began to show me that, for most of the peoples of the world, even His people of this day, His coming as the Lion of Judah (Kingship) would be a startling thing, just as unexpectedly as it was when He came as the lamb of God (Savior). The promise of Isaiah 11 will be fulfilled when the Lion crosses over the flooded valley. The concept of “crossing over” yet again is brought to the forefront of my attention. Dominion will indeed be restored back to God’s people through the sons of God. (Micah 4, 5; Isaiah 2) This afternoon while discussing the dream with a few brothers and sisters, I was prompted to ask Brad to read Isaiah 11:9. I was amazed with what I heard. Please also refer to Zechariah 14. Indeed, it is after a great earthquake or shaking that a great flood would be released. This is also is recorded in Hebrews 12 and Zechariah 9, even Ezekiel 47. I believe it is talking more about a fulfillment in the spiritual Kingdom of God, rather than in the natural, as it should be.
- As we were discussing this, little Elijah, Tim’s young boy at the age of 6, who sat in a chair with us, began to speak out. He shared that he was quite fearful to know about the terrible nature of earthquakes, so he had talked to Tim about it a couple of days before this. Tim shared with him that God will protect his own people in the midst of trouble. He will shield us. How amazed I was when he continued to share that the Lord Jesus talked to the boy just last night. He told Elijah to share it with me.
Oh, Lord, Mighty God, I give you all the praise and worship. Indeed, from the mouth of babes, you have ordained Your praise. Rejoice over us this day, as this comes to pass even in our midst. And thank you for allowing us to see this in our day. Hallelujah, blessed be Your Holy Name!
Isa. 11:9
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
as the waters cover the sea.
Psalm 8
For the director of music. According to gittith. A psalm of David.
1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your gloryabove the heavens.
2 From the lips of children and infantsyou have ordained praisebecause of your enemies,to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,the son of man that you care for him?
5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beingsand crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands;you put everything under his feet:
7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air,and the fish of the sea,all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
