(Edited by sister Cheryl Lowe.)
I had a meaningful dream a few days ago (December 12 or 13, 2012). Before I fell into sleep, I was led to search out some information about Mount Whitney and the tree called “General Sherman.” It all started with a curiosity about where the water from Lake Clemente comes from, and how a flood would influence the Sacramento proper or the delta region. I had some amazing finds. (Since they are not necessarily directly relevant to this dream, I will not expound on them here.)
A few days later, I heard from Tim and Rachael that they were visiting these very places on their way back to California from Texas. The night that they stayed in Sequoia National Park, snow fell heavily on the mountain. It covered everything, and they had to travel a tedious drive in order to get to the high places on the mountain. The path was buried in snow. Interesting to me is that, a few days before this, the Lord continued to stress to me the meaning of snow in the Spirit. It is His wisdom (dew) and glory (white as being like gray hair on the top of the mountain). (Psalm 68) I had this dream either on the very night they were staying in the Park or the day after. I am not sure which. These are interesting details to register as a context. Hopefully, I have done it justice.
The portion that I remember is only the tail of a long and winding dream. It starts with us, a group of people, waiting to make a decision at a square turn along the path by the edge of a great and high mountain. I am one of the group. At the time I seemed to have been assigned to lead ahead and guide the way or something. But it does not feel like it could be so, as I am not allowed to interfere with anyone else’s decision.
The square turn is located on a high mountain. It appears to be the same place that I saw in another dream of mine many years ago. (In the portion titled as Journey to the Mountain Top.). It is the very corner of two lines of cliffs, forming a perfect square when it leads the way from west to east then turns to the south.
This time, the group has been journeying on foot, not by bike as in my former dream. They stand next to the turn, somehow hesitating or confused. I stand on the first step of the snowy path, waiting for them to come to their decision. I can detect many thoughts going through their minds. Some are frustrated with the journey as if it will last forever, with no destination in sight. Some are confused, as they have assumed that the end of the west and east path should be their destination. Some are now very much concerned with the dangerous position we are standing, on a narrow path beside a huge chasm. They are looking at their feet, on the right, or the end of the path. None are seeing and actually coming to terms with the fact that ahead of us there is a turn.
So, it takes quite a while for them to recognize that it is impossible for them for turn back to descend. Somehow they all know that that is not the right choice to make. Then it takes more time for them to consult one another and ask what next.
During this time while witnessing what is going on, I also had the time to look at the path ahead of me. It is more level and much broader compared to the craggy narrow path before it. Like a paved stairway, it leads straight to the summit of the mountain, which I knew would be the highest point of all the ragged mountains around it. The turning point also marks out the snow line. The path from west to east has no snow, but the one leading to the summit is covered deeper and deeper in snow as it ascends higher and higher.
As I gaze upon the path, not knowing what to make of it, thoughts also go through my own mind. Firstly, I notice the snow has never been touched. But I am not so sure about it. Then I heard the Lord spoke to me:
“Yes, this is VIRGIN snow.”
Recognizing that none before us have ever travelled on this path before, I become concerned as to whether we are permitted and suitable to travel on it. It seems to be a sacred path. Then I heard the Lord saying:
“Yes, this is the path I have prepared across the ages for you and your people to journey on. This is the path of glory I have promised to you. It has been hidden from others, and now it is revealed to you.”
I come to know with relief that after the waiting, all whom He predestined to answer His call would follow and ascend on it. As I am looking at the stairs and curious about whether someone had worked hard on them, for they appear to be carved or chiseled out by some craftsmen, The Lord speaks to me:
“No, no hands of any man have worked on it. The path was formed when I created this mountain. It is my delight to have you as a peculiar generation to travel on it, without any struggle and labor. It is my joy to bless you with this gift.”
I also have some concerns about having no one to guide me as with my former journeys. There is a safety in my imagination that if someone had traveled on a path, it would be ok then for me to journey. The Lord seems to know my concern and He says:
“You should know that it is I who have brought you to this turn, so you can journey on this path. I have promised you that I will be with you when you answered my call to make the turn. No, you will not enjoy the assurance that every step you take will be known to you ahead. But you will have this assurance: that it is I who made these for you to journey on, and I am the one who is walking ahead of you. Have I not told you that I never fail you? So you need not worry about making a mistake by leading others to journey it. It is unknown to you, but known to me. You follow me, and those who are called and have answered will follow us. I will accompany you all to reach to the highest place. As you walk on this path of glory, you will all enter the fullness of my glory. It is my great desire and delight to see you all succeed in this. Know then that when you take these steps, you will never fail, for I am with you and I have called you.”
I now know that I need to be more patient with myself, and have each from the group to sort out their heart and mind. Soon we will begin to ascend on the snowy path together.
