I learned the word “highlander” from such readings. I still remember a series titled as Trinity or something, discribing about the struggles of the Irish people in the time of the Black Potato. But I am so sure the whereabout of the place in my dream.
Anyway, the terrain of the land is like that hard and harsh land, with stone-walls built along the slopes of hills, fenced, patched and farmed to keep a family’s provision. The people have to work very hard just to make a living. And for a long time they have lived like this, and never imagine that one day the way of their life will change. Their happiness and success all rest in their diligent and hard work as farmers who enjoy genuinely their family and their tradition. And they are quite content with it until one day.
The dream starts with the scene when a very nice couple (in their late 20s) is being introduced to me by one or two older men or women from the land, who are in their 50s. However, this is not some casual introduction. Now, the land has just suffered a great destruction, either from deluge or fire, or both-I am not sure. I see in a vision that everything in their lives has been ravaged and destroyed. Even their stone house was torn down and burnt into rubbles. We are standing on a hill top. So I can see that all the fields are burnt into pitch black. Stone walls that used to hold dirt along the hillsides are all torn down. Everything is damaged. There is almost no life or hope in this place anymore.
This precious young couple has lost everything. Above all is their long-held belief that they had been righteously and faithfully following the Lord and thus He should bless them with what they had been enjoying: peace, happiness and moderate provision. They are perplexed with why the Lord would allow such a tragedy happen to them. Have not they been godly, diligent and faithful in every way? They should be the last one to suffer this kind of loss. So they cried out to the elderly people for help and understanding. But they don’t know how to console them, nor could they offer any substantial help. With a sense of trust and hope, they turn the young ones to me. It seems that they know I am the one who has the answer and the solution.
Facing this unexpected and pressing situation, not knowing what to say them who are now weeping and in great distress, I asked the Lord for an answer. The Lord spoke to me: “Tell them: ‘You will always weep over the loss of what you labored for if you don’t learn how to confront evil.'”
Suddenly I recognize that the Lord sends these young people (there are others in the land) to me so I can shared with them my life, as I have learnt from Him to engage with evil and the evil one in the past. I also recognize that the young people had never counted it as a necessity in their lives to deal with the Evil one and the danger of His destruction. They have believed that if they just live a godly life and take care of everything in good ways, God will certainly bless them and keep them well. Also their sphere of life never goes beyond their little patch of hilly land and the little house fenced in the stone-walls. I know then that we will all have to leave this land and never to come back, for everything is finished for us here.
Few impressions:
- I think this has to do with my recent sharing about Jesus and His disciples on the mount of Transfiguration.
- I think the dream signifies a season of change of role for me in terms of relating to others in the Body.
-
I know that great changes are coming and I will move to another place with others whom the Lord gives to me. Maybe that day is not far away from now. I pray that the Lord gives me more clarity along this line.
