We all struggle with the need and the desire to be accepted and understood. We tend to do that to God while God assures us that we are. I think, it is a reflection of our “immaturity” in life if we truthfully examine the situation, emotionally, mentally, and most importantly, spiritually.
Interesting it is to reflect and observe, through our own spiritual journey and many a time, thru others’, how often we actually are SETTLED with the fact that we are loved and cherished.
I think of young love, how easy we are troubled by the trivial of misplaced relational exchanges. We upset ourselves, and as a result, then the very one whom we want to love and be loved by. Often it takes many a blow and many years of being together we finally know How to love and How to receive love as a Matured couple in love! We have to train ourselves in the discipline of love.
If with an “earthly and sensual” love we have a hard time to appreciate and enjoy, what about God’s love, which is through and through spiritual and of not this world?
To grow in Love can only happen when we know we are loved and the need on our part to search out and receive Love. And growth in love will lead us far beyond that that starting point. It will INDEED, or rather in Reality, lead us back home – even the fullness of God our Father who is Love.
