While in a time of meditation this morning, I saw a vivid inner vision.
I saw a heart was dancing with some lively flames. I understood they were much like the fire on the altar of the Lord, massive, intense and all-consuming. The heart was also pulsing with great vitality, as if it was breathing in the fire and drew life from it.
As I was wondering why wasn’t it rather consumed by the fire. An understanding came to me that this heart was newly born of fire, after its old form offered on the altar was burnt away. (I can see now the old one was much smaller, dark and withered, literally like an old wineskin, with only a hint of life in it.)
What an amazing imagery! A heart of flesh unscathed by the intense fire dancing like a new born baby. It certainly changed my often unconscious apprehension of some spiritual truths: death to self, circumcision of the heart, judgment of fire, born again, etc.
“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 11:19 NIV
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10 NIV
“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.” Galatians 6:14-15 NIV
