In this meeting of January 30, 2016, with the Brothers and Sisters in Bungoma, Kenya, we learn that 15 of our Brothers and Sisters were arrested while in their prayer meetings. An effort is afoot by governing officials there to limit organized meetings, particularly as they relate to “religious causes.” The cabinet is scheduled to sit in the next 3 weeks to decide on these new laws. The Brothers and Sisters will be entering into fasting and deep prayer in the next few days over these rather serious decisions that will be ruled upon by the governing authorities as it relates to the government’s interference in religious practices in an effort to weed out what it considers to be “fraudulent” preachers and groups. Obviously, this has a great deal to do with our Brothers and Sisters’ ability to gather together and worship as well as preach the Gospel to others. Moses and others have met with the county commander and he has requested that they return after this meeting ended. They will be keeping us informed on the matter as additional information is available.
Upon learning this news, Brother Immanuel was inspired by the Holy Spirit to deliver a powerful message related to Matt. 11. In this time of trial it is important that we remember the words of our Lord, “The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” He also encourages the Brothers and Sisters not to approach this matter with a vengeful heart, but rather forgive them, for they know not what they do.
