I see man in a room that is shifting back and forth. The man is continually stumbling and being hit by furniture in the room, but he seems to have no idea why things keep moving.
He decides it would be a smart idea to tie down the furniture, so he scans the room for something to use. He gets the curtain and rips it into strips and uses these strips tie down the various pieces of furniture. He can see a bright light beaming into the room now, but is annoyed by the heat it produces, so he stays away from the window, never even thinking to look outside the window.
As the room continues to rock back and forth, the furniture breaks through the curtain rope that was used to tie it in place. The man gets a feeling of hopelessness and cries out in desperation.
After a moment of silence, the man hears a noise coming from the back closet. He slowly makes his way to the door and opens knob and steps in. It is very dark, but he still hears that intriguing sound. So, he begins to slowly move forward, waving his arms in front of him.
As he does this, he notices a warm sticky substance all around him. It’s like a spider web of sorts. He turns to look back from where he came from, but the door has closed and the darkness is disorienting. The man begins to panic, and doubt fills his mind. He thinks, “did I really hear a sound in the first place?”, “Why did I let my curiosity bring me into this place,; I think I’d rather be back in my unstable room. Now I am all alone without a chance of getting help.” He realizes that each intrusive thought that comes in his head, his body is thrashing and in turn, further entangles in the web. He tries desperately to undo himself, but this pursuit is ultimately useless. As he sits in the stillness of defeat, he again hears the noise that intrigued him to the closet in the first place.
The longer he listens, the sound turns into an audible voice that tells him to fall straight backward to be released. This makes no rational sense to the man, because he is unable to move, but at least is still standing. However, the man no longer seems to trust in his own abilities and voice has a sense of assurance that intrigues his trust. So, he falls straight backwards. (This reminds me of a game of trust/ fall we used to play as kids.)
As he falls backwards, the webs that encase him and form a sling shot of sorts, and the person is propelled forward. He forms into a ball and shoots through the long Narnia type closet, ripping through all the webs and then finally breaking through another door.(This action reminded me a bit of Sonic the Hedgehog in a video game.)
When this breakthrough happens, he is flung through the air and lands on the top floor of a lighthouse. As he gets his bearings, he realizes that this light house rests on the top part of a majestic, floating castle. A person comes to come and hands him new clothing and a book of the layout of the castle. The man begins to walk to the edge of the balcony to get his bearings.
With this higher Bird’s Eye view, he notices not only his old house, but thousands of other houses floating in the sea. He begins to yell to get their attention, but this proves useless over the roaring sound of the ocean.
The man looks in book given to him and sees that there is a bell at the very top of the lighthouse; he could use this bell to alert the others! He follows the map to find the bell.
Then, he climbs up a ladder and rings the bell. As he does this, he recognizes the sound. It is that same sound that caught his attention back in his room. The realization comes quickly that he must continue to ring the bell so that the others can hear the sound.
