The Failure of Saul’s Reign
Immanuel Sun continues to expound on his teachings on the Order of Melchizedek through an exploration of David’s life. In this meeting, Immanuel explores the heart of King Saul in contrast to the heart of David. In this comparison we see the extreme importance of obedience being far better than sacrifice. Saul failed to destroy the enemy, the Amalekites, and to take no spoils in their defeat, in direct disobedience to God’s specific instructions. He then builds a monument to himself and begins to celebrate his own idea of his victory over the Amalekites without the arrival first of Samuel. Before any celebration began, Saul should have awaited the arrival of Samuel to first issue a report to him of the outcome of the battle. He did not do this, which was hugely dishonorable to God’s servant and therefore God himself. This heart condition was opposed to the heart of God and God could no longer endorse the existence of that wrong heart in a king representing himself to his people.
It is unfortunate that many of God’s people today are defining their own blessing of God for themselves, in much the same way as Saul did, rather than being obedient to receive the blessing of God as he chooses to bless his people. Immanuel Sun expounds.
