“You’re Destiny – God’s Will and Purpose”
Chapter Nine
“A New Name”
God has called and He is now bringing forth a people to ascend into the ranks of those whom He calls “the overcomer”. This word “overcomer” from the dictionary has the meaning of “to get the better of in competition, conquer. To master, prevail over, to overcome obstacles, to overpower or overwhelm”. Thus, a person who has conquered every obstacle and has gained that Christ-like life which God has called them. A life that knows justification, glorification, and a life that leaves the mortal realm of the earthly behind, to gain the immortal places of the heavenlies. This people have come to the end of a lifestyle of groaning and travailing into the placement of becoming a son, which is the redeeming of the body. Rom. 8:23 declares for us, “And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit the redemption of our body”. In this redemption, from the mortal groaning body to one that becomes immortal, one that glorifies God becomes ours. This is a higher place than that of receiving the in-part gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit only. This Holy Spirit anointing place is that which is but a foretaste and pledge of a far greater position, an eternal inheritance. Again, we are shown in Rev. 7:3 that God declares of a people who shall arise to receive the mind of Christ, that each might move into that realm of the “greater works than these shall we do” as spoken by Jesus. “Hurt not …. till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads [mind of Christ].” It is unto those who are willing to become bondservants to God that are becoming one of those sealed with the mind of Christ.
By looking at the life of Jacob (the contender), it depicts for us, a life as it is lived after the dictates of the natural man. His name itself has the meaning of “contender, supplanter” which reveals for us the nature of the natural man in its ability to struggle against God’s higher purposes. Nevertheless, God brought Jacob to the place where He was alone, as it were, for it was time for him to ascend into a higher plane in God. God shares with us in Gen. 32:24, “And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a Man with him until the breaking of the day”. The word “Man”, as used in this scripture, speaks to us loudly in revealing some understanding to us as to the transition Jacob was about to complete. “Man” in this context is the Hebrew word “ISH” which means “male, or husband; a man in contrast with a women. But it means a greater man in contrast with ordinary men”. Could this not be speaking to us of a greater man within the ordinary Adam man? In this context, we do have Jacob, the natural ordinary man, contending with a greater man. This word “ISH” is a word used “when God is spoken of as man”. Thus, this “Man”, the greater man within is speaking of the spirit of God that comes to dwell within man’s spirit (Adam, the natural ordinary man). With the scriptures telling us that “the kingdom of God is within”, we know that God in man (ISH) has a dwelling within that man. Could it be then, that the natural ordinary Jacob was wrestling with the greater man within, the man in whom the wrestling and transition within Jacob was to bring forth?
Jacob was never to walk the same from that day forth, never again in his own strength (as shown by the touching of the hollow of his thigh). Jacob the contender, the natural man was now Israel, a prince with God. This means that He becomes one who God commands, orders and rules. Jacob now known as Israel, replacing the name once used, but now he types a spiritual man. Gen. 32:28 says, “And He said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, But Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed”. Here Israel speaks of that man whom Jesus spoke of as one that “only does what He sees his Father do, and only says that which he hears his Father say”. Israel is one who is the prince of God, a commander; He is one that now manifests that which God is in him. How, because he has become like unto the Father as shown in Gen. 32:30, “And Jacob called that name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved”. This word “Peniel” is the Hebrew word for “God’s face”, and as we are told in 1 John 3:2b, “… but we know that, when He shall appear [make manifest], we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is”.
This new name (nature) is a promise from the Father unto all those who have overcome. Given unto those brought to the end of their own strength. In being weak, we like Jacob, have learned to lean upon the heavenly staff wherein we are in right position before God and receive a new name. Rev. 2:17 says, “…. to him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in that stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it:”. The elders knew a white stone as a “victory” stone. In the year of Jubilee, at the time of Israel’s Day of Atonement feast, those released from bondage, received a “white stone”. This white stone is the proof given for full redemption, a new name (nature), the mind of Christ and a new body. It is of assurance that these shall no longer walk as they once walked. This new walk is not a walking in some new more updated set of rules and doctrines. Rather, they shall leave behind the natural concepts of doctrinal laws and traditions to move into the realm of reality. That which they once hoped for will now become the manifested life-style of each overcomer, as they express the nature of Christ unto the world.
As we consider a people coming into a life of maturity, a life of perfection, even as the Father is perfect, we can base the truth of King David, who was anointed three times as a type of the King/Priest ministry that is now coming forth in the earth. David’s first anointing came through Samuel while he was still a lad tending his father’s sheep. (Read 1 Sam. 16:1-12). In 1 Sam. 16:13 we read, “Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him [David] in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward ….” This first anointing is a type of the outer court anointing wherein the sacrifice is for the sins of the people. Secondly, after Saul’s death (the death of the house of flesh), David was again anointed by the tribe of Judah to be King over them. 2 Sam. 2:4 shows, “And the men of Judah [praise] came, and there they anointed David King over the house of Judah”. Herein we see the type of the holy place anointing, even as it fell upon those in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. This anointing, which are the firstfruits, the gifts and ministries given for the perfection of the saints is the earnest of our inheritance. Eph. 4:13 declares this anointing was to be in place until, “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”.
Moreover, in Eph. 1:14 we are told that this second anointing is but the earnest (a pledge) of our inheritance until, “Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory”. This redemption then is but the beginning of another anointing, a new day in Christ. This third day anointing is even now upon us. In looking at David’s third anointing, we can see another type of another greater day. Herein we see David set in as King over all Israel. II Sam. 5:3 declares, “So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and King David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David King over Israel”. This anointing is the anointing represented by the Holy of Holies in the wilderness Tabernacle. It is that anointing which manifest the full stature of Christ in and through a people. It is that anointing, that life which births the redemption of the purchased possession, an anointing that enables God to send forth a people in the Spirit without measure. “For He Whom God hath sent speaketh the Words of God; for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him”. (John 3:34). Here we see a remnant of people, caught up to dwell in God with their heads in the heavens (mind of Christ) while their feet walk upon the ground. This is that mature, perfected remnant that God can now send forth unto the nations, to feed, nurture and purify them, that they might likewise follow after all the truth of God. In Acts 15:16-17 we read, “After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom My name is called, saith the Lord, Who doeth all these things”.
Another type given us to consider is Benjamin, a type of those redeemed ones who are to fulfill the ministry of the body of Christ, the sons of His right hand. These Priest/King ministers shall usher in the end-time kingdom of God. Benjamin was the younger of the two sons born to Rachel, the true love of Jacob (Israel), for whom he served Laban fourteen years to receive her for his wife. This number fourteen is twice the number of seven that is God’s number for spiritual perfection. A number multiplied by two simply means a higher form of the number. Jacob had worked seven years and received Leah by deception and then he worked seven more years for the wife of his true love. With each wife being perfect in her own order, but with Rachel being a higher order of the church, the part of the church which births the true son of God, including the many member body of Christ, the man-child which is birthed to rule the nations. While Leah types the carnal church as seen in the earth today, Rachel speaks to us of the virgin girl Mary whom birthed the first son Jesus. Rachel, at the end of her days, after birthing Joseph, later births another younger son called Benjamin, a type of the last day man-child company. Even though Jacob (Israel), that old supplanter, the contender, had twelve sons from four different women, we can see God is controlling in bringing forth great truths for us to see. Twelve is God’s number for governmental perfection, with four denoting creative works, with reference to the material creation, as pertaining to the earth.
From among these four mothers (creative works) and twelve sons (governmental perfection), we should pay special attention to Rachel and her two sons. Joseph was the first-born of Rachel and types for us Jesus, the first-born son of God, birthed through His mother Mary. Mary was the virgin girl who knew not a man, but overshadowed by the Holy Spirit she was to birth a Son, the head of the many member body of Christ. Rachel, in the last of her days also births another son. Benjamin, the younger son types the many member sons of God, birthed from the woman church that represents the last day’s virgin church, the true church that is birthing this man-child, many members in number, which makes up the fullness of the Christ. Joined with the first born son, these firstfruits, brought forth as a remnant, shall began to rule over God’s kingdom as it is established on the earth in the last of these last days. A few things we should notice about Benjamin are that he is the only other son of Israel that is born from Rachel. He was Joseph’s only full brother and we should notice in Gen. 35:18 that Benjamin (son of my right hand) did not have an earthly mother to raise him. Likewise, the man-child church separated from the mother (church) and matured by the Father. “And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, [for she died], that she called his name Benoni [son of my sorrow]; but his father called him Benjamin”. Thus a revealing that this last day many member son, born from the virgin Church, shall not be a son of sorrow like the first born (Jesus), but shall be the ruling sons with Christ at God’s right hand, the inheritors of God’s kingdom.
Benjamin, Joseph’s only full brother, was the one whom Joseph (while in Egypt) remembered, loved and longed to see. It was this younger brother Joseph searched for when his brothers came to Egypt for food because of a famine in the land. Remember, as his brothers were departing, to return home to Israel, it was in Benjamin’s sack that Joseph hid the silver cup. Silver, denoting redemption, was the cup offered to Benjamin for his redemption, paid for by the sufferings of Joseph before he moved into rulership in Egypt. Even as the elder son Jesus, who likewise suffered for His body’s sake, a people today is accepting from Him His silver cup of redemption. Matt. 20:22 says, “But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask, Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto Him, we are able”. Unto those who are willing to share in Joseph’s cup (Jesus), they shall also rule and reign with Him. With this “Joseph cup” denoting Christ sufferings, a people are coming into unity with Him. They are coming into that spirit of rulership in Christ wherein they come into their inheritance. 2 Tim. 2:12 shares, “If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we deny Him, he also will deny us:” With Benjamin being birthed as the last of the twelve sons of Israel, denoting for us the feet members of the body of Christ, they shall at their appearing, come into the fullness of their inheritance. Let us remember that the feet appear last in the birthing of a child. This fullness speaks to us of the whole man, a day of redemption for the spirit, soul and body. 1 Cor. 15:26-27 declares, “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death, for He hath put all things under His feet [members of Christ’s body]”.
Even as it was in the days of Joseph, in these last days, there shall appear another famine in the earth. This is not a famine for bread and water but a famine for the Word of God in spirit and truth. Joseph, who had the dreams of rulership, despised of his brethren, even as a remnant of people in the earth today is despised. They likewise have visions and dreams of rulership in the spirit, will and purpose of God. These visions and dreams given by God shall likewise cause today’s Joseph company to be despised, sold out by brethren as not even being a part of the household of God, as the worldly-minded churches profess to be. These despised ones, though sold out and supposed to be dead, shall become the savior’s coming from Mt. Zion unto all their brethren. This last day famine is even now in the land, which is not a famine for food and water, but a famine of the hearing of the true word of God. Amos 8:11 declares for us, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord”. Honesty causes us to agree that most preaching from the pulpits across the land today is not necessarily the true word of God. At best, it is a watered down version of former days, doctrines and passed down traditions that have not birthed the expression of God in the earth, thus fulfilling the prophesied famine of a people not hearing the word of God. Where is the true Word of God? Most seek only for comfort or a place of survival in this cruel world, while willing to co-exist and compromise with it. By accepting the ways of the world as their ways, they allow their fruit to swivel up and die. Amos 8:12-13, “And they shall wonder [stagger] from sea to sea [from human ways to human ways], and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro and seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint of thirst”. That generation in the earth who, up to now, are fainting. They have been spiritually dying for lack of God’s heavenly manna, the spiritual life of the revealed word. They seek all the avenues, which the world’s kingdoms of religion have to offer; only to find themselves weaken unto death, unable to fulfill their thirsting and hunger cravings for satisfaction concerning the reason for their existence.
Was abuse God’s purpose in putting a people upon the earth, to be beaten and made prisoners of a corrupt system and it kings? Does God only desire for a people to die as they pass from the land of the living? Is this not the teaching of many of the church systems for the most part? Just hold on, abide, try to make it until physical death swallows you up, just wait for the hope you have of going to heaven to be with God. Even from the beginning of humanity, God has spoken, “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”. (Gen. 1:28). This speaks that all things are to be under subjection to God’s created man. Nevertheless, with fallen man giving away the right to rule over God’s creation, all things came under a curse, all things seeking to corrupt God’s purpose. However, even though man, according to his natural nature, has corrupted the earth in all things, God has spoken forth a new creation man, one who is standing forth to subdue the earth and replenish it with God’s holy love. A new kingdom is coming forth, for even as Jacob, a newly named people are coming forth, no longer as schemers nor contenders, but a changed people. Those who have wrestled with themselves long enough to gain the victory and become a newly named people, spiritual Israel, a people whom God commands, orders and rules over. This people become a prince of God through a nature change. Given to rule over the earth, to feed humanity the truth of God’s word, food and drink to bring change to all God’s creation.
Again, liken unto Joseph, this people have been despised of their brethren, (those ones born unto the household of spiritual Israel, but have not yet been willing to submit to God’s divine Kingly order.) Their brethren have supposed this Joseph/Benjamin Company to be dead, but they are very much alive, hidden among them in the earth. They are obscure, hidden away until the time of their appearing. Because of the time, they are even now beginning to come forth; they are speaking a word of deliverance, a word of life that shall cause the residue of God’s people to conquer death even as these first fruit ones have conquered it. These will at first, not be recognized at the time of their appearing because of the order of their appearing. Nevertheless, humanity shall finally come to know them as Christ reveals Himself through them, His body of people that are manifesting the greater works. A people birthed into the redemption of their bodies by a putting on of God’s divine nature. 2 Peter 1:1-3, “According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue; Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”. A promise, a fact, a completed word that is coming forth even now by the putting on of that new name, a new nature manifesting itself through LOVE, a new day, and a new order is come. It is even now upon us so arise for I come quickly, even now, saith the Lord, therefore, Yea and Amen, according to God’s word so shall it be.
