Foundational Teachings – Baptism of Fire
In today’s session, we expounded on Baptism of Fire as it is taught in the Bible, esp. in the NT.
Like Baptism of Water, Baptism of Fire also embodies two kinds of work in one operation. That is death to our old self and life in God with a new grace or into a new reality.
The major prophetic picture or type for this is the work and its spiritual essence concerning the Altar of the Lord in the Tabernacles of God. The Altar is where one’s offering is burnt in the stead of his own life. Also, it is where a son of God or a Levitical priest is designated to serve a member of God’s people. He is to help the member to put to death then “make holy” by “beheading” the head and “separating” the members of the body of the offered animal for its designated purposes and with its meticulously stipulated requirements according to the Law God gave to Moses.
In sum, if Baptism of Water is a judgment of death (the first death) and burial of one realm or age of our life as gateway or narrow path for our birthing into the higher realm or dimensions of life, Baptism of Fire also embodies a judgment of the old life and the birth of a new life, in reality, and in grace or God’s resurrection power. It is the introduction of our life into a greater glory in God.
